One of the biggest areas of contention between complainants and West Yorkshire Police is the thorny issue of whether the arrest of previously decent upstanding citizens has been necessary, proportionate or lawful.
It is uPSD’s expereience that this is one of the areas of legal ground that the police defend more vigorously than any other. Often to a quite ludicrous degree.
We highlight a number of cases here where the lengths that the police have gone to could safely be described as extraordinary – and disproportionate to the point of being quite grotesque when police officers are prepared to routinely lie and pervert the course of justice to meet their masters’ requirements.
